New Kegs

Some new arrivals at the brewery including our new soon-to-be keggle #2. Like the Shamwow it was made in Germany which gives it extra cool-points.

Two keggles will allow us more flexibility, more efficiency on brew day, and the ability to brew 20 gallon batches if we desire. And we do desire.

Oh No You Didn't!

Oh yes. Yes I did.

Mass Production

To help keep things organized in the brewery corner of the basement, we stenciled numbers on our kegs. I'm going to do the same to the primaries when they are empty and dry. Along with a whiteboard, this should keep us from getting confused about what's what. Without doing this I can guarantee that sooner or later I would rack or keg the wrong batch.

Our dark homebrewless time is almost over. There are four batches in various stages of fermentation downstairs, one of which will be kegged today.

Batch #1 Has Been Consumed

Batch #1 was great! I blew the keg Saturday around noon filling my big-ass thermo-cup (right) to take out to the pool.

Now I'm bummed because I'm a week away from kegging my next batch, and probably 10-14 days away from drinking it. WHAT HAVE I DONE???!?!

To ensure that this never happens again, I've ordered two more kegs from Midwest Supplies. The idea is to have two kegs of 'house brew' and another keg for experiments.

We're also ramping up production and brewing again next weekend, and likely the weekend after that as well.

Interestingly, Jess cracked a Coors Light today (her first in two weeks or so) and said, "Uhg, this tastes like shit." I guess our tastes are expanding!
